The Chinese delegation for the Paralympic Games, featuring nearly 500 people including athletes, coaches and officials, has been well accommodated in Rio de Janeiro, a team official has said.

Much of the Chinese team will be staying in one building at the Athletes' village throughout the Games and they have already decorated it from top to bottom with Chinese national flags.

A number of necessary changes have been made to the Village to meet the needs of the Paralympic athletes, however further work has been required in recent days.

During the Olympic Games, problems were reported at the Village, including blocked toilets and leaking pipes.

According to Shanghai Daily  the Chinese wheelchair racing team's toilets were blocked once they had moved in, but now the problem has been solved.

Rio 2016 also failed to provide, in advance, chairs for athletes who required one in the shower but after receiving demands from the Chinese delegation, the organisers have now provided them.

"Everyone is happy at the Village and we are all looking forward to the Games," said Team China administration assistant Huang Ying.

"It's been a smooth process moving in."

All the buildings have units adapted for people with an impairment or with reduced mobility.

The doors are wider, corridors are larger, and the lifts have room for two wheelchairs at a time.

The Chinese team, the largest ever the country has sent to a Paralympics overseas, has a total of 308 athletes.

At London 2012s, China won 95 gold medals and 231 medals in total and the Asian country has topped the medal table at the last three Paralympic Games.

"We've been here [in Rio] a few days already and it's good to move in," Lyu Hongqin, a member of the Chinese sitting volleyball team that won gold medals at London 2012, said.

"The services have been good, we're happy and everything is fine."

In total, more than 9,000 people, including 2,000 volunteers, will be working at the village during the Paralympic Games.
