New online bloggers have been appointed for the Gwangju 2015 blog site ©Gwangju 2015Gwangju 2015 has today appointed 25 new online bloggers to help promote the Summer Universiade over the coming months.

The "online messengers" will be promoting the event by reporting news about the Universiade and other sports-related topics while receiving various incentives such as Universiade reporter's awards and media accreditation during the Games.

The new appointment brings the total number of bloggers to more than 150, with 129 bloggers having published more 1,420 articles on the Gwangju 2015 blog site, blog.gwangju2015.kr, since 2011.

This blog site has been viewed more than one million times since it was established, helping promote the Games across South Korea and the rest of the world.

"Online media is an essential tool to promote the 2015 World University Games to people around the world," said Park Hyun-jeong, director general of public relations at Gwangju 2015.

"I hope the new 'online messengers' have a sense of pride as being a part of the Universiade.

"I am confident that they do a fantastic job to report the Universiade news."

The new appointments coincided with the sending of media invitations to 258 media agencies across South Korea.

Media personnel who wish to cover the Gwangju 2015 Universiade need to apply for a special accreditation and must complete the entry form online through the Media Accreditation System, which will be open from March 2 to April 20.

On May 3, all applicants who successfully passed the accreditation procedure will be assigned to different categories which define their access rights in various media zones.

"Universiade Gwangju 2015 will be a stepping stone for potential medallists of the 2016 Rio Olympics," said Park.

"Therefore, we are anticipating to see media from around the world be a part of the 2015 Universiade.

"In addition, we will give our utmost support to the media in order to help promote Gwangju to the world."
