The Organising Committee, led by secretary general Kim Yoon-suk, held a debrief following a two-month venue operation plan inspection.

During the debrief they discussed the readiness of facilities ahead of next year's Games, as well as other operational activities that needed to be finalised before the Universiade is due to get underway on July 3.

During the two-month inspection, the Organising Committee visited all 38 competition venues, 32 training venues, the Athletes' Village, the International Technical Official Village, the Main Media Centre, Incheon International Airport, and Songjung KTX Station.

It used the time to evaluate the current conditions of the venues and look for alternatives in areas which require improvement.

"From January, the GUOC (Gwangju Unversiade Organising Committee) will make the transition from planning phase to operational readiness," said Kim.

"We will go through multiple test events to rehearse for the actual Games."

As the New Year approaches, the Organising Committee claimed 80 per cent of the construction programme is now complete.

Within this, the Athletes' Village is 82 per cent complete, the Kwangju Women's University Universiade Gymnasium is 80 per cent and Nambu University Aquatics Centre is 80 per cent, it is claimed.

Organisers also claimed that all these venues will be completed by the March 2015 deadline.
