PwC will be a Gold Partner for this year's SportAccord International Convention ©SportAccord International ConventionFebruary 25 - Professional services firm PwC has been announced as a Gold Partner of April's SportAccord International Convention for the second year in a row.

It becomes the fifth Gold Partner of the annual convention, which is due to be held in Belek/Antalya, Turkey, from April 6 to 11.

After last year's convention in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, PwC carried out an economic impact study on the event.

It estimated its direct and indirect impact be $7.69 million (£4.60 million/€5.5 million), exceeding its pre-convention estimate by more than 12 per cent.

"The first year of our partnership with SportAccord Convention was extremely successful and we are very pleased to be continuing as a Gold Partner in 2014," said Robert Gruman, PwC Russia Advisory Leader, who heads PwC's Global Sports Mega-Events Centre of Excellence.

"SportAccord Convention provides us with networking opportunities and enhances our ability to build relationships with International Federations and the global sports movement."

The organisation's Sports Mega-Events Centre of Excellence is made up of a network of professionals with experience in bringing value to sports mega-events.

For next month's Sochi Winter Paralympics, its experts, in partnership with the the organising committee, carried out more than 200 projects in areas including operational planning and risk management.

PwC has become the fifth Gold Partner of the 2014 SportAccord International Convention.

It joins Sport Event Denmark, Contemporary Group, Combat and Sports Strength Confederation and Macau Sport Development Board.

This year's gathering at the Susesi Convention Centre will be the 12th edition of the SportAccord International Convention.

It will encompass congresses and general assemblies of more than 100 International sports federations, with sponsors, host and bid cities, architects, sports lawyers, broadcasters and organising committees also present to discuss key issues affecting the industry.
