9014344361 f423ff3ba0 zJune 13 - British athletes selected to represent their country at the 2013 Universiade in Kazan have been at a kitting out session at Loughborough University, where they were presented with their patriotic kit designed by British brand Kukri.

Athletes and staff representing Great Britain at next month's summer Universiade were given their first chance to get their hands on the new kit, and were assisted by a personal shopper after going through a fitting session.

There was also an opportunity for the team to gather for the first time and meet the athletes they will be travelling to Russia with, and for the official team photograph to be taken.

Representatives of team sponsors, American sports-drink brand Gatorade, UK Anti-Doping and health supplement brand Bimuno, were on hand to give guidance to the young British athletes.

British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) Head of International Programmes and Deputy Chef de Mission in Kazan Neil Rogers spoke of the importance of the session, which was being held for the first time.

"This event is a new addition to our Summer Universiade preparation and added real value to our athletes experience and journey," he said.

"Receiving your team kit is a very special milestone for everyone involved, the kit is a key part of what brings you together as one team and our thanks must go to Kukri for designing and supplying this kit, and to the students athletes who contributed to the design process, which our athletes will take pride and inspiration in wearing throughout the Games.

"BUCS extends it thanks to Loughborough University whose venue provided the perfect environment and heritage and to Gatorade, Opro, Bimuno and UKAD for their support of Team GBR.

"With just three weeks to go, the whole team is excited to show what they can do in Russia."

The 2013 Universiade in Kazan is due to being on July 6 and runs through to July 17.
