100712 gwangju2May 27 - Gwangju 2015 have announced the South Korean city will host a forum featuring world leaders and youngsters as part of their link-up with the United Nations Office for Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP).

The forum, known as the EPICS Forum - standing for the Gwangju 2015 values of eco, peace, information technology, culture and sports - will bring together young people from across the world to meet world leaders and discuss the issues concerning students.

The first forum, scheduled to be held in August, will run under the theme of "Sport for Development", and will future numerous world leaders as well as around 500 students from across the nation.

Among the delegates partaking in the forum are International University Sports Federation (FISU) vice-president Stefan Berge, along with UN Special Adviser of Sports, Wilfred Lemke and UN Ambassador of Sports, Tegla Loroupe, the former women's world record holder for the marathon..

Vice President of the International Sports Press Federation Laima Janusonyte will discuss her career as a sports journalist with students, and South Korean Olympic gold medallist Jang Mi-ran, who won consecutive weightlifting titles at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, will talk about her success as an athlete and her path to becoming a sports activist.

Students will also get the chance to demonstrate their vision of the future development of sport with their own presentations to attendees.

In addition, EPICS speakers, selected by the UN and Gwangju 2015, in the fields of environment, peace, technology, culture and sports, will be giving presentations to promote the value of each field.

Gwangju 2015 will be recruiting participants for the presentation contest from today until July 31, as well as inviting students from domestic partner universities, students studying abroad, and students attending universities in the Gwangju area to attend the forum.
