The 23-year-old Skinner will be appearing at her second Universiade, after also taking silver in the women's trap at the 2011 edition of the Games in Shenzhen.

"I'm definitely looking forward to the challenge," she said.

"If Shenzhen was anything to go by, the competition is going to be world-class, so it's going to be tough to even get into the finals.

With the Games now just over two months away and with around 13,500 participants expected, Skinner is under no illusions as to the task that faces her to go one better than her silver-winning performance in Shenzhen.

The 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan is just over two months away


"My other events are preparing me for the Universiade." she continued.

"The atmosphere is so different from World Cups because there are so many sports and teams involved."

"It's quite difficult to remain focused and easy to get distracted and caught up in other people's successes."

She will be joined by three-time national champion Amanda Holt, who won the women's champion of champions, double-barrel and high gun titles, finishing third overall at the national championships.

Australian International Shooting Limited squad member Michael McNabb completes the team as he is pencilled in to compete in the men's trap on his Universiade debut.

The shooting events will be held at the Sviyaga Shooting Range, kicking off on July 12 and running through to July 17.

Australia are expected to name around 200 athletes in their squad to travel to the Tatarstan capital in the hope of improving on the five gold, three silver and eight bronze medals they won two years ago in China.
