"This demonstration on the Burj Al Arab shows how big our sport has become in this region and around the world." said WTF President, Chungwon Choue.

"It is a great example set for the athletes at this year's Fujairah Open.

"The range of nationalities participating within each age category demonstrates the universality of taekwondo - this really is a sport for all and a sport where any dream can come true."

The WTF demonstration team took to the helipad atop "the world's only seven-star hotel" following the Opening Ceremony for the 2013 Fujairah Open International Championships.

Taekwondo made its first appearance in the Olympics at Sydney 2000.

"Twenty thirteen continues to be a year of great success for the WTF as we extend the reach of the Federation to the rest of the world." said Choue

"The Poomsae Championships last year were our first event in South America, and 2013 has seen an increased opportunity to bring the WTF to the Middle East where taekwondo has always been popular amongst people of all ages.

"We continue to look forward to the multiple global events happening this year, and are starting by rewarding the loyal taekwondo supporters in the Middle East and North Africa."
