The Universiade Language School was incepted in 2010 and has seen over 3,300 people complete language courses in English, French, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish.

The courses are taught by native speakers and last between 10 to 14 weeks, focusing on practical conversation.

Gwangju 2015 are offering free language courses to volunteers

In a questionnaire of students conducted by the GUOC, 70 per cent replied that their main reason for completing a language course at the Universiade Language School was to volunteer for the 2015 Universiade.

A GUOC member said: "We will be opening the language school until 2015 to develop the volunteers' communication abilities and to help them become the core for the successful hosting of the Gwangju 2015 Universiade"
