The IPC Academy is an education partner of the IPC which works to improve educational standards within the Paralympic Movement.

The workshops covered the management of the Paralympic budget and issues around accessibility, with experts presenting ideas designed to help ensure the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games are a success.

It is the second time the excellence programme has been run, having been used for the first time with Sochi 2014 staff.

"We are delighted with the level of engagement and knowledge sharing that the organising committee and their stakeholders showed during the workshops," said the IPC's head of knowledge management Apostolos Rigas.

"The IPC is committed to providing continuous support for our partners in the host cities and it is important that we tailor our input in order that the outcomes of are maximised."

The workshops kick off a four year programme of activities that will transfer knowledge to Rio 2016 to use ahead of the Paralympic Games.

"The programme provided a great opportunity for us to discuss and learn from the valuable insights provided by experts," said Mariana Mello, Rio 2016 Paralympic Games integration manager.

"It also provided a unique opportunity for us to engage with our stakeholders who will share our journey on the delivery of what will be an exceptional Paralympic Games in 2016."
